Subject: From: Host: Date: Terran Tactics X-14 dt092n5e.san.rr.com Thu Feb 4 18:08:44 Bunkers: Most people place supply depots in front of them because they give supply, have lots of life, and are cheap and fast to build. But, towards the end game, this can be cumbersome to those of us not highly skilled in micromanagement. A scout can attack the depot w/o fear of retaliation from the bunker, unless it is full of ghosts. Now I know, I know, one can have wraiths go over and kill the scout, but, I'd rather not have to do that in the first place. I place bunkers in front of bunkers. Bunkers have decent life, and if you put a good mix of units in them, like a few bats in the front ones (with marines of course) and a few ghosts in the front and back ones, (still with marines), you can have a pretty solid defense. This way, you won't lose a supply depot to scouts or what not. Goliaths: some people don't use these, simply because they are used to vanilla SC. They are invaluable now... Sometimes, if the opponent is not too skilled, or is busy with other things, you can kill corsairs with groups of goliaths before they get d-webbed. Now their ground damage still stinks, but that's okay. You have tanks and firebats for the ground units. Medics: if you have a medic that is in the middle of a battle, and has gone astray, and has nothing worth healing (this happens more than you'd think), send off a few last hurrah flares. It works best on sci vessels, but overlords are good too. Plus, be warned that medics can heal anything within range, even zerglings and zealots. Comstat: if you are playing on a large map, I like to have 2 comstats around, and I hotkey them. Nukes: don't forget about these... They are better now. they build faster, and 2 can kill just about anything. SCV's: Most of you may know this, but for those of you who don't, scv's repair buildings way faster than they do units, and mass scv's can repair a severley injured battlecruiser in seconds. The more scv's repairing, the better. Vultures: After using the spider mines, I suggest, if you need the supply, send these guys on suicide peon runs. At 75 minerals a piece, that translates into 25 per spider mine, The cost of an interceptor (?) and far more damaging. Battlecruisers: Use them, but sparingly. and dont use them without 2 scv's and a sci vessel. You'll need those... By the way, the computer counts the battlecruiesers land and air attacks as different, so by clicking back and forth between a ground and an air target, you can effectively double your rate of fire. Thanks for reading, although most of you probably knew most of this stuff already. Comments would be appreceated. X
